Hello, my name is Claire. Alongside my work in the public sector, this website is where I explore the questions that sit behind public choices: how evidence, legal principles, values and competing interests are brought into view; how disagreement can be taken seriously; and how dialogue can support decisions that remain credible over time.
I believe that sound public decision-making depends on three things: clear information, a fair consideration of options, and a process in which different interests can genuinely be heard. When one of these is missing, a decision may be procedurally correct, yet still struggle to command understanding or trust.
The essays and reflections published here grow from questions that matter to me personally: European cooperation, international law, diplomacy, political legitimacy and the relationship between historical memory and public life. They are not written to promote a predetermined position, but to think more carefully about questions in which facts, interests and principles do not easily align.
The purpose is simple: to contribute, in a modest way, to better public reasoning — and to the conditions in which difficult collective choices can be understood, defended and sustained. This website records that ongoing process of inquiry: accessible to those who want a quick sense of what drives my work, and substantive enough for those who wish to read further.
